1. How many levels are there in the Callan Method?
There are 12 stages (levels) in the Callan Method, books 1-5 contain 2 stages each and books 6 and 7 contain 1 stage each.
2. Do I need to take the placement test?
Prior to enrolling we need to know what your level is. This way we can place you in the course that is most suitable for you, however if you are a beginner you do not need to take the test as you will start from book 1.
3. How many students are there in a group class?
The maximum is 10 students per class, however the average number is only 5-7.
4. Will I get a certificate at the end of my course?
Yes, you will receive a certificate of completion for each stage you have studied.
5. Where do the students come from?
Students are Thai, Japanese, Korean and sometimes other nationalities as well. Being in a class with students of other nationalities is fun and encourages you to use English when communicating with them.
6. Are all of your teachers native speakers?
Yes, all of our teachers are native speakers of English, they come from England , America , Australia , Canada and New Zealand . They are fully trained to teach the Callan Method.
7. How can I enroll at the Callan Method school of English ?
All you need to do is come to our school, take the placement test, and enroll in a group that is at your level.
8. Can I start at any time?
Yes, for students studying book 1 and 2 courses open every week, for other levels there might be some waiting time until we assemble a group. It usually does not take much time , on average 1-2 weeks.
9. Can I have a demonstration lesson?
Yes, we offer free demonstration lessons so you can decide if you want to enroll after the demonstration. This way you will know what to expect during your course.
10. Do you help with obtaining a student visa for Thailand for students coming from other countries?
Yes, we help to obtain student visas for students from other countries, in particular for Japanese and Korean students. You will need to pay a tuition fee for at least 120 lessons to qualify for the student visa. You will also need to provide us with your details as well as a copy of your passport. When we receive your payment we will send you an enrolment letter either by post or by fax.
11. How long is the student visa valid for?
Once the student visa is issued it will be valid for one year, however every 3 months you will need to leave the country and re-enter back into Thailand . It is called a ‘visa run', the most convenient destination is the Cambodian border, there are very comfortable buses going there everyday in the morning from Bangkok , it takes about 7-8 hours for the whole trip and costs a total of 2,000 baht.
12. Why is the Callan Method much quicker than other methods?
Students learn more words per lesson, they speak much more, they listen much more, they concentrate better and they are not given time to translate into their own language.
